Hi there folks, just a note to inform you that my brother, Drew Bamber of Mongomery High Class of 71 was diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer last fall and after a hard six month battle, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 12th at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, WA with his mother Helen by his side. Drew was a talented artist of Northwest Native Art and also an accomplished guitarist who was in love with "Gypsy Jazz" in the past few years and was deeply involved with "Djangofest" both in Mill Valley and on Whidbey Island, WA where he made his home. He was an amazing guy who went through alot of trials and tribulations in his life and will be missed by many.

Well, as the summer of \'11 began winding to a close, I wondered whether there would be a gathering. Then, after hoping that we would have a 40th, turns out it\'s on Yom Kippur. As far as I know, that just knocks out myself and Richard Jaroslavsky. Have fun, drink up, and I hope to see y\'all at the 50th!

Just looking through the latest notes on everyone.  Sad to see so many of our class not with us anymore (and surprisingly I remember their names!).  I have yet to attend a reunion, but I am going to try to go this time - we only hit 40 years once!  By the time we reach 50 I won\'t remember anything!

Just checking in. I married Mike Schram from the class of 71.  We have been living in WI for over 12 years.  Mike is a Lutheran Pastor and we have been married for 36 years, raised 3 wonderful children and are expecting our 3rd grand baby in August. I don\'t think we will make it to the reunion.

I am looking for Linda Drady.

I would have been the class of \'73 but I moved to Berkeley in 10th grade. It was great to see the photos of the reunion - I remember Kelly Kline, my partner in Mr. Smith\'s biology class - he came and rode horses with me.  Kevn Ward was in my speech class with Mrs. Carlisle. Jodi Barber\'s sister, Jae, was in my grade. I am in touch with Don Hodge, Erk Ferry, and Cindy Wallace from my grade, and Marian Ortiz from the class of 72. Please let me know if you all get together again.

Hello MHS fellow class mates,
Had a few minutes so I thought I would do some research and look where I ended up.
I wasnt able to graduate with the class of 1972 because I got married and moved to Alameda and that school didnt require as many credits so of coarse I took the easier softer way and didnt take but 3 classes. When graduation rolled around I was informed that I didnt have enough credits to walk that walk with you, but I did walk at Alameda HS.
Anyway life has been a journey there is no doubt about that. I ended up in HI, WA, AZ, TX (where I had my first born), Germany (where I had my last born after haviing a boy and a girl there was no more surprises so I decided two was enough).
I am now back in Houston TX and my kids have blessed me with a total of 3 grandchild, I have a great job and VACATIONS.
OK enough for now. Glad I took a minute to post something might drop by again and read some others.

Stumbled across this site and wanted to sign in.  After Montgomery High and college I attended graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania, finally ending my journey in Amherst, Massachusetts, also known as "the other Berkeley" though I'm not sure why except that we have a lot of coffee shops and unusual locals.   I have one son who is in medical school studying to be a pediatric surgeon.  I begged him to be a plastic surgeon so that I could get some much needed cosmetic help, alas, he refused.  He is still a great son.   I miss California terribly and am envious of all of you who stayed.   I have worked at Amherst College for the last 27 years and take the fifth about everything else.   Best to all of you.  Does anyone know what happened to Harriet Yamada or Janet Guyon?

JUST SAYING HI TO THE CLASS OF 71
Helmut Becker
Posted on the 2007-10-02 at 20:00
I was just „googling“ around and got the idea of searching for my old High School. To my sur-prise I found the homepage of the class of 1971. Although I’m not in the list of missing grads – neither are my fellow exchange students Volker Jenisch( als from Germany), Asa Persson (Swe-den) and Martine Chamla (France) – I feel very much part of the class of 71. My senior year at Montgomery High was a time to be remembered all my life. In case of interest - there are some photos of myself in the yearbook and one on homepage (dancing). It was very interesting and fas-cinating to look at all the pictures and reading the biographies of the people I used to know. But it was also very sad to learn that my friend Bob Rudloff had died. I was missing my american brother Dana Smalley in the list of missing grads, too. I myself lost contact many years ago. Does anybody know what has become of him? Short biography: After returning back to Germany I finished school here. Went back to Santa Rosa in 1973 to visit my American family and friends, unfortunately almost all of them had gone off to college or joined the army or whatever. One of my old teachers – Mrs Carlisle – invited me to summer school at UCLA, where she was teaching at that time. Then I worked for two years in a hospital instead of joining the army. In 1975 I started to study law at Freie Universität Berlin. After spending some time at the London School of Economics I visited the States again in 1978, but didn’t make it all the way to California. Worked some time as a lawyer and finally became a judge at Berlin Criminal Court. Favorite pastimes: open water sailing with my yacht Avalon, rid-ing my motorcycle; unfortunately no kids, not married, but living with the same girl for the last 20 years. If anybody wants to contact me: Helmut.Avalon@online.de

A special thank you to all the committee members who worked so hard to make the reunion such a success. It was wonderful! Thank you for the many hours, thought and dedication that went into creating two well organized and memorable evenings. The Flamingo and Furth Center were great settings. I loved renewing friendships and making new friends. The website has been awesome and especially fun for me. Thank you Joseph and David. Thank you to all, from the first phone call from Jeanie, my childhood friend, to the emails from Paul and Patti encouraging me to come, to the lovely decorations and the last good-bye (as we reluctantly went out the door at midnight)! I was worn out on Sunday and didn't get to Dallas until 10:30pm. Left SR at 11:30a.m. Home and in bed at 11:30pm. What a weekend. David - you are great and I will have Phil download my pics sometime this weekend. He's off camping right now. Aren't there any of me without a goofy look. The happy wine look - Jessie

What an amazing experience it has been working with the fabulous classmates involved with the reunion committee. I think the class of '71 is so special. The turnout for the big event was impressive! It touched my heart to see so many of my friends make it to this reunion. I was also thrilled to make new connections with some classmates that I really didn't get to know in school. I am determined not loose touch with people that I have reconnected with through this event. I can't thank all of you enough for making this the best reunion I can remember! Can't wait until the next one!!

WOW!!! What a truly special experience this has been for me. I am almost at a loss in my life now, with all the work over. It was almost like a new family, working with all on the committee, now we all go our ways again; I am feeling just a tad blue inside. Thank you Gwin Stumbaugh, Candy Kutz (Racuya), Jeanette Kauffman (Berger), Paul Kynoch, Juel Fischer (Bortolussi), Brian Hines, Dana Kishbaugh, Patti Perry (Pierce), Jeannie Diegleman (Wright), Tony Schukle, Jeanette Arnold (Johanssen), Carl Smith, Joseph Oster & Rod Allen for allowing me to serve along side you on the committee. And very special thanks to Donny Charles & Leslie Pixton Meline, for the ground work they had set in place, and the vision for this event to be the best ever reunion for the Class of "71", I think it goes without saying that everyone there last night felt it was so. Only 1,824 days to the 40th .........!

It is a day after your reunion and I can't express in words how much fun I had! It was so great seeing you and remembering all the fun times with the Class of '71...although some things probably would be better off forgotten!!! The reunion committee did a fantastic job. You are to be commended for all your hard work. It is easy for me to say that the Class of '71 was the BEST CLASS that I had the privlege of teaching! I am so happy that I had the opportunity to see you again. I look forward to your next reunion....and be prepared....I will bring a history test with me to see how much you remember! Thanks, again... Just wanted to jump in here and congradulate the committee for an absolutely fabulous job. The event couldn't have been nicer. I had ,probably one of the best times, that I've had in a long time. It was so much fun seeing every body, not to mention trying to recognise everybody with 35 years of brain fade going on. Again NICE JOB!!!!!

Many thanks for the calls and efforts of those who've worked so hard to make the upcoming reunion a successful event. Regrettably (after spending last weekend in the Northern California for a friend's wedding) it is a bit complicated to make it north again this soon, I did manage to navigate through the web site to rediscover the photos from 35 years ago and hope that -- way back when -- I inadvertantly helped record many of the events over which the the Class of '71 will now reminisce. Those were wonderful days. Have a great time. Looking forward to the next event (as well as a web site with "spell check" for future postings) Jim

This has been one of the most challenging, yet rewarding experiences for me. Being on the committee & being associated with such talent & enthusiasm has truly been a blessing & a source of comfort to me. The reunion committee was incredible to work with. Joseph Oster & David Schweitz have done a terrific job on the website! It's paid for almost 5 years, donations are welcome! The classmates on the committee exercised tremendous dedication & put a lot of their personal lives aside by calling: Larry Kropp, Jeanette Arnold, Juel Fisher, Patti Perry, Paul Kynoch, Jeanette Kaufman, Tony Schukle, Candy Kutz, Jeannie Diegleman, Gwin Stumbaugh, Carl Smith, Brian Hines & Dana Kishbaugh. Besides calling, most of these classmates have other duties & are involved in all of the other aspects of the reunion to make this a memorable event for all. The decorating committee has hit a home run. Gwin Stumbaugh has been sadled with all of the budget issues, Tony, Jeanette, & Jeanette have made astonishing contributions just to make this a reunion to remember. The hard work is almost over, it's starting be fun. I have thoroughly enjoyed talking to many classmates and I will maintain many of these connections forever. Thank you 35 - Year Reunion Committee! You have been fantastic to work with. I have been blessed by my association with you. Let's have a damn good time! Rod

Dear Class of 71, although I did not find my name on the missing grads list I do consider myself a member of the MHS Class of 71, having spent the senior year as an exchange student from Germany with you. I do look back at my time at MHS very very fondly, indeed I have revistited the school when I passed through S.R. this July visiting my friend (and Junior in 71) Bill Lafferty and our teachers Cathy Grace-Heyes, Jeff Held and Phil Graf - whom we found in great shape - it was a wonderful visit.

After graduating from MHS I got my German Highschool Exam and then studied medicine in Hamburg-where I am now working as an Internist in my practice.

I wish you all a very good time at the reunion - Best regards from Germany - Volker Jenisch-Doenges

So nice to see some of the 'lost' have been found. Can't find any pictures of me in high school, so you'll have to make it up! Won't be able to make it to the reunion as I will be in SLC in training for a new job. Too bad about Leslie and Don. Enjoy every moment; life is short! Hello to all of the class of 71 and friends, Thanks to you all who put this website and everything else together it was fun to read about people from the past. (Whish I could find my yearbooks so I could remember who more of you are?) I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the reunion but I will be at another graduation. I completed a drug and alcohol rehab. at the end of May and our graduation is that same night. I believe it would be in my best interest to attend that instead. Peace to you all Nancy
