Comment: Indy is not such a bad place to live! Byron is a Managing Partner for a 230 lawyer law firm, my oldest son (Zach) is a Junior in IU's Kelley School of Business; youngest son (Seth) just graduated from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and is a Chemical Engineer in Southern Indiana. My guess is he will assimilate a huge Hoosier accent! I work in floral sales part time and am involved with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, The International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and Young Audiences of Indiana. I still play the piano and found that the arts community needs many volunteers. I LOVE to play golf and finally have a decent handicap. Byron and I both have Harleys, we do wear helmets! I moved my 91 year old mother here from SR last April. One of my friends here lived in SR for 20 years and managed Victoria Stations and Chevys in SR!!! My step brother-in-law is Bill O'Keefe who coached and was in the counseling dept at MHS for years! Can't wait to see everyone. Also, only the government calls me Margaret, get over it and call me Peg. |

"One should not peak in high school." Senator Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii
Unraveling of the American empire: A series of military debacles point toward a tragic end By CHRIS HEDGES, APRIL 20, 2021 https://www.salon.com/2021/04/20/unraveling-of-the-american-empire-a-series-of-military-debacles-point-toward-a-tragic-end/ Imperial ineptitude is matched by domestic ineptitude. The collapse of good government at home, with legislative, executive and judicial systems all seized by corporate power, ensures that the incompetent and the corrupt, those dedicated not to the national interest but to swelling the profits of the oligarchic elite, lead the country into a cul-de-sac. [...] There is not a single case since 1941 when the coups, political assassinations, election fraud, black propaganda, blackmail, kidnapping, brutal counter-insurgency campaigns, U.S. sanctioned massacres, torture in global black sites, proxy wars or military interventions carried out by the United States resulted in the establishment of a democratic government. [...] War, when it is waged to serve utopian absurdities, such as implanting a client government in Baghdad that will flip the region, including Iran, into U.S. protectorates, or when, as in Afghanistan, there is no vision at all, descends into a quagmire. [...] The idea that America is a defender of democracy, liberty and human rights would come as a huge surprise to those who saw their democratically elected governments subverted and overthrown by the United States in Panama (1941), Syria (1949), Iran (1953), Guatemala (1954), Congo (1960), Brazil (1964), Chile (1973), Honduras (2009) and Egypt (2013). And this list does not include a host of other governments that, however despotic, as was the case in South Vietnam, Indonesia or Iraq, were viewed as inimical to American interests and destroyed, in each case making life for the inhabitants of these countries even more miserable. |

Comment: 'Happily living life' is my status! I’ve had fun these past 35 years (has it really been THAT long?) being a mom, interior designer and an antique specialist (American/stateside- and Continental/English furniture, decorative arts and jewelry/Paris, Geneva and London with a major auction house). Now I’m a press secretary in political communications, finishing a second masters (IMC) to go with the MPA in SF. One of my pet projects is ConSource.org (check it out). All the papers involved in establishing our US Constitution are being digitized and will be a free database - one massive database to be certain. Still enjoy art, photography, water sport and traveling. Two super children-my daughter is a lawyer at the federal level back east and my son is in school, working and lives for music as a composer, musician and sound engineer. Life is good, busy and interesting! Sorry to be missing the reunion as I’ll be in DC on business. Drop me a line and say Hello! |

Comment:
What a treat to view the postings of the select few with whom we shared some distant and memorable times. Nothing particularly astonishing in my bio: With little else in my career path, I ended up practicing law in LA, an unpleasantness that has allowed me (and wonderful wife, Colette, of 23 years) to spend much of our lives cooking, traveling and providing a home in Santa Barbara for an episodic herd of sheep-like standard poodles (see picture below) I confess being particularly intrigued with the bios posted by those that I knew only peripherally back then, but who have pursued more interesting paths: Merielle Flood, who reports "playing acoustic bass in bluegrass, old time, and vintage country music bands" outside of Nashville. Lelsie Eaton, who with her husband, "own Pat's Blue Rib'n BBQ" in Kansas. Bob Smith "mostly doing startups" in Silicon Valley; Paula Gregerson, who posts a recent photo and notes: "It's important that one's beverage match one's attire;" and, of course, Kent Zimmerman, who had both the nerve and political incorrectness to malign George Bush on a high school reunion web site. Wishing you all a wonderful chance at rediscovering one another for the 35th. Jim |
